The Weather Inside: The Story of Katie & Bones
A children’s book inspired by Katie, Bones, and their journey navigating epilepsy.

When I first started writing The Weather Inside, I knew I wanted to create a story that helps kids see the world a little differently. It’s a sweet, lighthearted story with an important message: invisible disabilities are real, and just because someone doesn’t look disabled doesn’t mean they aren’t facing challenges.

The book is inspired by my own personal experiences living with epilepsy and my service dog, Bones. He doesn’t just make my life safer, he’s my goofy, loyal best friend who reminds me to find joy in every day.

My goal is to bring awareness to epilepsy and service dogs and show that people with disabilities aren’t defined by limits. We’re strong, capable, and full of potential.

At its heart, The Weather Inside is a story about friendship, strength, and finding sunshine even when the weather inside feels stormy. Filled with beautiful watercolor illustrations, it’ll be a timeless book you’ll be reaching for again and again.
